Author Richard Byrne Reilly is taking questions in this Author Spotlight on his new book about technology entrepreneur Peter Thiel.

Hey! My name is Richard Byrne Reilly. My friends call me Rich. Or Reilly. “Peter Thiel: Players, Companies, Life” is my second book and it was just released. It’s unauthorized and an eBook. It’s short and fast and not a traditional biography. It’s a microbiography, a non-linear format of perhaps the world’s most controversial and powerful tech mogul told in his own words. It’s broken down into there categories: Players, where Thiel dishes on many of Silicon Valley’s builders and power brokers and also topics like Bitcoin and China. Companies: Thiel offers candid takes on his friend Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet and Alibaba’s Jack Ma for example. The Life section is Thiel’s on subjects like being a billionaire, the meaning of friendship and where his $2.7 billion fortune is invested in. Players is an evolving snapshot of a committed technologist impossible to categorize and took a year to research and put together. This is my second book. Who am I? I live on California’s Central Coast. I grew up in the Valley and have been around technology people since a kid. My first job out of school, before I became a journalist, was as a production assistant on Baywatch. I met Pam and David and Scott Baio and Nicole Eggert and many other wonderful people. Got fired halfway into the season which was inconvenient. Then I moved to Eastern Europe and became an investigative reporter there for three years in 1993. It was a Gonzo experience covering organized crime, foreign security services and serious criminals. I got out of there alive and did work for the National Enquirer in LA and FLA. I’m really into my family, traveling, collecting modern art and hanging out with our dogs and large African desert tortoise. I’m doing this ‘Author Spotlight’ today from 11am to 6pm. Ask me Anything you feel like asking. Thanks for showing up and asking questions.
