Let's not pretend there's an equivalence between the Russian regime and the governments of Western societies. Russia is a kleptocracy, where murderous tactics are used to ensure the enrichment of of an elite group with ties to Putin at the cost of the Russian people. The corrupt disregard for human rights and lives at the top level permeates the society, and the corrupt influence of government and its criminal allies is a fact of everyday life for all Russians.

This is absolutely not the same as government in Western democracies. Anyone on the internet trying to whitewash the criminal regime in Russia is engaging in fundamental dishonesty and it's a reasonable surmise that they are paid by the Internet Research Agency or another organ of state propaganda.
