I have been given a fat academic offense charge that will scar my life for ever

Please keep in mind that the professor at uOttawa at least follow the due procedure: 1. He follow the protocol set out by the university; 2. He used the recommended or industry-accepted software to collect evidence (be it at least several sentences not a few words like the case in McMaster to flag a two-word phrase as academic plagiarism which is insane); 3. Based on the evidence, he raised reasonable doubt; 4. He followed the guideline to punish the students regarding the first offence If it is considered as one.

On the other hand, both the professor and the management at McMaster did not follow any rules, protocols, and guidelines in handling this case/report: 1. The professor did not follow the protocol to detect the academic plagiarism during the online test; 2. The screenshot of the online chatting is not cheating even according to the professor, but she still raised imaginary doubt to allege academic plagiarism against the OP, and presumed OP is guilty to start with; 3. Even if the allegation does hold any water to be true, both the professor and the management of McMaster broke their own rule in handing out such a harsh punishment for the alleged first-time academic plagiarism.

The attempt to divert the attention to all the professors in Canadian universities is suspicious.

This type of problem is indeed McMaster-specific: allegations based on imaginary doubts, and over punishment on unproven offences to ruin the future of a young person. McMaster is specialized in blowing a trivial issue out of proportion, be it in bragging about itself or in punishing its own students.
