Ben Heck Reacts to Steam Deck Teardown

To play devil's advocate, he's criticizing the Deck's (and the Switch's) size, when he got famous making things like this, and this.

Is it fair for me to call this hypocrisy when he's slicing up pre-existing mobos and fashioning them into plastic shells instead of creating an original device like Valve? Probably not, but part of me wonders if his bitter reaction is partly because devices like the Steam Deck (and the Aya Neo, and the GPD Win, and the OneXPlayer...) have destroyed his niche. Portable consoles were an exciting novelty in 2005, but in 2022 you'll be able to buy any number of handheld computers that can do the exact same thing... but with any console you want, via emulation.
