Best way to experience coffee culture in Melbourne?

A lot of cynical replies here. I’ll try to be helpful. “Coffee culture” can mean something different to anyone. But for me, it’s the huge variety of coffee shops we have. But I feel like most people are happy just buying a latte somewhere and getting on with their day.

I prefer specialty coffee spots like Patricia, Path and Market Lane. Aunty Pegs is interesting too but I feel like it’s a little over the top there. If you want to get a slice of ~ Melbourne coffee culture ~ I would suggest visiting one of these places and asking about what coffees they have available. The baristas will tell you about the farms the beans come from, the geography of the area, and how that translates to the flavour of the beans. These people work at specialty coffee shops because they love this shit. They’re always happy to talk about it. You can buy a bag of beans or some sort of accessory as a souvenir or something to take home.
