Definitely Gene - He was the biggest asshole to Shannon. But he is a good example of what happens when you work hard and stay away from substances. Aside from his promiscuity, he’s a great example for kids. I think of him less as a “jerk” and more so, that he is “quick” to comeback at someone who is clearly disrespecting him. That’s admirable to me, because I was nothing like that. I think Gene has a big heart, and he wants to help the world & make it a better place.

I feel for Paul. After reading his book and seeing how shitty he was treated by everyone for not having an ear, I actually commend him for his hard work and drive. I think his uprightness comes from not wanting to be taken advantage of or looked down on. Also, unlike Gene - Paul was taken advantage of by women even though he tried his best to be a good husband and father.

Paul and Gene HAD to be known as jerks. Why? Because that’s what it takes to keep something going. If it weren’t for their serious, structured personality - there would be no KISS. Even when Eric Carr was dying … of course that had to hurt their heart, but as Paul says in his book “the show must go on”

My friends dad is the head of this huge company in West Africa, and he is the biggest jerk ever. But if it weren’t for him, it would all fall apart.

So to sum it all up, I think they’re both jerks - but Gene seems to be more of a jerk in his personal/family life.
