To preface, I've been told I look a few years older than I am, and my boss looks a few years younger than she is, so we look around the same age but there's a significant age gap between us.

I was helping her out with a technical issue one day, and when I was done and started heading back to my area, this old guy walks up to me and tells me that I should date her. Now, internally I'm disgusted because a) she's my boss, b) like I said, significant age gap, and c) who the hell are you to play matchmaker with a couple of random department-store employees based solely on the fact that they were civil with one another. Oh yeah, and she's my boss.

But, because this is a customer-service job and I can't reply by projectile-vomiting, I politely inform the dude that I'm 17 and she's, like, twenty-something and also my boss. This dude then winks at me and says "well that shouldn't be a problem," to which I barely refrain from recoiling in disgust and just give him the standard "Well that's nice but I have to get back to my station now" spiel I give when I really don't want to keep talking with someone. I then spent the rest of the shift trying to scrub the encounter from my brain.

I do not get the obsession with pairing people off because they're opposite genders. Even when you're older, it's absolutely creepy.
