Blatant racism in Singapore?

I am ethnically Malay but look Chinese and can speak mandarin. This means people think I'm Chinese and therefore are happy to spill all their racist thoughts to me without filter. I dated a Chinese guy once. His mother got along well with me until she discovered to her horror I was not actually Chinese.

The racism is one thing but what I hate most (and can be seen in some responses here) is the 'justification' that someone always has to bring up to dismiss the experiences of minorities.

Indians find it hard to rent a place. No lah, it's not racism, it's because dunno what smell in walls etc. Malays get targeted for search at MRT stations. No lah, I am Chinese I also get searched.

When I hear all this from anyone in real life, I immediately decide that they are racist and I've no desire to interact with them at all.
