Pre-Covid, I went once a month regularly with several special occasions sprinkled in throughout the year as well.
I was elated to get back there two weeks ago on the re-opening weekend, and even more so to see (and taste!) that quality was still top notch.
If I were taking my wife for her birthday, here's what I would do (we lean strongly into sharing everything we order):
Cocktails (well thought-out and executed program, and seems like that's continuing on reopen)
Appetizers / Small Plates - Pick two to share, I like:
- The beignets of course
- Either or both fish options (fried and crudo)
- There's always good veg options - radish + butter, and the salad du marche, most recently (though I haven't had them since reopen)
- The tartare is extremely good but I'd only order that when we weren't having steak for an entree
Bottle of wine (tell them what you like and they'll give great recommendations)
Ribeye to share
Non-steak entree to share - got the scallops when we went (which was swapped in that night for the halibut)
(Alternatively, skip the second entree and get a side or two with the ribeye)
Dessert: optional; they're very good but I'm usually stuffed by that point
Have fun! It's really a very special place and I'm so happy it's reopened (and just a few blocks from me).
