I have yet to taste a mind blowing dish in Chicago.

But what makes the Chicago food scene good? That is what I'm trying to find out. Is it pasta? Is it pizza? Is it new American? What is at the core of the Chicago food scene? The variety of cuisines? Variety of dishes? Doing a particular cuisine better than other cities?

Someone mentioned a Kurdish restaurant which seems awesome and I'm going to try that. I went out to Wheaton to try Burmese and a Laotian pop up. There's Mongolian, Peruvian, Ethiopean and Argentinean. Obviously that's not all, but I'm saying I definitely go out and do my fair share of exploring. I discover new dishes and flavors anywhere and that's not unique to Chicago's food scene. If I go to NYC or LA, I can find multiples of these cuisines not just one establishment plus other cuisines not in Chicago. So I don't think that's the strength of Chicago's food scene.

So maybe Chicago food scene is great because it's amazing at several cuisines, but I don't know what that is. Could it be Polish or Italian food of the Polish and Italian heritage? Is it Mexican food? Is it fine dining? That's why I want to know what people find amazing about the food scene in Chicago by sharing their favorite dishes.
