Breeding Technical Help

I am mostly going to be breeding smooth knob tails. That is what I want to focus on because nobody has them and I think I could create a market for them. I adore them. I actually already have potential buyers lined up. I want to do a few of my special leopards, not too many, because as you said, the market is saturated. Worst case scenario, I end up with babies that won't sell, so I get to keep, and I'm totally happy and cool with that.

I get what you're saying, I do. I just get confused about technical terms. Once I learn it, I'm good. Genetics is just a bit confusing to me... I'm not scientifically minded, so I have to work extra hard to get it at first, but once I do, I'm good. I just want to learn all I can about it.

As far as my ability to provide for them. I am ready. I have everything that I need at this moment in time to start breeding. Sterilite containers, heat lamps, food bowls, paper towels, and most importantly... love. I love this. I love what I am doing. I enjoy my geckos. Most of my spare time goes to them, and I work 7 hours a day and then the rest of my time is dedicated to them and a bit of Rocket League on the PS4 lol. And yes, I am ready to do the work. I've researched and researched and researched. My geckos are in perfect condition. If you would like to see the work I am putting into this, check me out on instagram @terrariageckos. I am willing to do whatever it takes! I am willing to absolutely learn everything I can about them. I've downloaded apps to help me with pairings, I've researched the hell out of this. Most of my time is spent on the internet googling something. I even forget to eat sometimes, lol. I'll be so engrossed that it'll be 10pm before I eat dinner.

You see, I am trying to create a side business for when I have to go on disability. My health is not so great that I can't do a 8 hour a day stand up job. I'm lucky to have the job I have where I get to drive for 7 hours a day. But with fibromyalgia, even that is taxing. So at some point I am going to have to file for disability, probably within a year or two. That gives me time to get my geckos going, pay my car off, and then when I do file, I have this going where I can make some side money. I'm not going to overbreed to the point of what you're saying. I'm looking to have 90% of my babies be knob tails. I've got 12 enclosures right now for my smooth knob tails, flying geckos, crested gecko, and leopards. I can handle doing the work for them quite easy. I've got several other enclosures waiting and ready to go for when the babies arrive.

As far as online goes. I probably won't be selling much online at first, due to the fact that I need to research what states I can ship to without having to get a F&W permit. There are laws for every state and I plan on looking that up in the coming weeks. At this very moment I'm creating spreadsheets and all for each one of my geckos to fill out all of their information, because I'm a geek like that. It's fun for me.

Yes, I think I know how to sex geckos. I even know the temperatures used for determining male/female leopards. Unfortunately knob tails can not be sex temped. I've had geckos shipped to me and I know the process quite well now. I even searched out a local vet that specifically works for reptiles and have their number on hand should I need to use it. In fact, I was going to set up an initial appointment for them to check every one of my geckos in the coming weeks. I know there are things that are going to come about and I'm going to have to learn it. But I am a person that doesn't go into something without knowing as much as I can about it. Which is why I asked about the science of it. It's going to be a year before I can breed those Tremper Albinos, so I wanted to learn the science behind their morphs now so that I may pass it on. I've even been in contact with the breeder.

And I have done the research, I was just asking for a little more help because I was trying to wrap my head around it. I want to learn. And I know you're saying that you're not trying to discourage me, and you're not, but how can I learn if I don't ask questions? Some of the websites out there are so conflicting on information, that I wanted to ask reddit if there was a definitive website that had the most pertinent information, and I'm kinda getting reamed for it. I'm sorry if I pressed on a button. I just figured someone might have a better website that google isn't hitting on.
