Because you don't want to repurchase again anytime soon, I would really recommend Hakuhodo. With proper care, their brushes are designed to last for years. The brushes are handmade, and the quality is really, really nice. I don't have any experience with Zoeva, though. What one person likes in a brush might be a real turn off for someone else; in my opinion, the personalization is the best and most frustrating part of brush shopping, so I knew I did not want a pre-made set. When I started building my brush collection (which is still not done), I was moving from EcoTools and Real Techniques to higher end and had to do a lottttt of research to pick each brush. Sweet Makeup Temptations was a lot of help. When you get into higher end brushes, there are a lot of nuances like length and density of bristles, type of hair used, weight and composition of the handle, strength/security of the ferrule, etc. that all impact your choice. I consider my eye brush collection complete: I own Hakuhodo J5523 (good for eyeshadow laydown and blending), J5529 (about 1/2 the size of J5523, good for detailed blending or smaller eyes), G5548BkSl (medium pencil brush great for smoked out eyeliner or detail work), and S142Bk (longer-bristled, tapered blending brush). If I had to purchase these again, I would probably only buy J5523 (maybe 2 of these) and G5548BkSl because I don't seem to need or want to use the others very often. J5523 alone might have been enough; it's a real workhorse. For face brushes, I am saving to buy Chikuhodo, but I really struggled to choose Chiku over Haku. If I were going with Hakuhodo, I would choose the S103 because it is BEAUTIFUL and can be used for all-over powder or to highlight, and the J210 because I love its shape and small size and it can be used with cream or powder.
