BTS Criticized By Chinese Netizens After Van Fleet Award Acceptance Speech Honors USA But Puts Down China

Not just arrogant, it's extremely entitled. Here's a quote from a terrible New York Times article (conveniently written by Chinese people):

"We can’t force them to have the same political views as us, but since you get our money and support over here, then you should take note of that and respect every country,” she said."

Interestingly, the New York Times article doesn't even explain what BTS said that the Chinese found so offensive until halfway through the story. By that point, if you've kept reading at all, you assumed that BTS said something anti-China. Instead, they said nothing at all!

If you're going to have an article about BTS' supposed slight towards China, then you should do more than interview Chinese people. The article assumes that BTS did something wrong. I thought news organizations were supposed to look at the story behind the story. For example, why is it that Chinese state media is attacking a Korean boy band for the massive crime of not mentioning them in a speech?
