Can a neurologist order a PET scan for diagnosis?
Based on my anxiety and obsessive compulsive traits, low serotonin is highly likely. Before taking Prozac, I want to have this verified by a PET scan as Prozac has a lot of side effects. I tried Prozac a few years ago and it gave me insomnia but would reconsider depending on the circumstances.
Usually that is correct. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4330993/ shows that for over two decades at the time of 2015, now almost three decades, PET scans have an assessment application for CNS disorders involving serotonin.
The normal neurological exams come out fine except the anxiety and obsessive compulsive traits which psychiatrists and neurologists have noted. I myself have noted too.
