Can someone explain this to me?

Good God! We've had an adjacent scam. We hired a guy who then referred a bunch of other people. I asked him how he knew so many people in our specialty and he said he was in a "club". I didn't think too much about it until one of his referrals showed up to a Teams call with a totally different voice and couldn't answer a single question. She kept going on mute and when she'd come back I could her the woman we'd hired speaking in the background.

We hired about 10 of this guys referrals and I think this "club" helps them get through the interview, may even help them with their work and I'm guessing someone is taking a portion of their pay. They're all connected to each other somehow on LinkedIn. Either the same former employer or to one specific person.

Seven of ten haven't updated their LinkedIn after 1-2 years, to show my company as their current employer, so they're doing this to multiple companies.

It wouldn't be the worst thing if they were amazing at their jobs, but they suck. I mean suck! Everything is riddled with errors or late or both.
