Can someone help me understand what might be going wrong?

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years without a need for drugs, have you given it a fair enough chance while sober? Honestly meditation is supposed to take time and practice, and taking a shortcut kinda goes against the entire concept of it. Is it really meditation if you needed LSD to get there?

I agree that it's absolutely useful, especially therapeutically for the sake of perspective and insight, and it's an incredible experience on top of everything else. But doing it too often can be a detriment to your health like any other drug can when done regularly and long-term. If you do continue using it frequently, then yes at the bare minimum I'd get a good balance between water, electrolytes (and vitamins), diet, exercise, etc.

But my real advice would be to put at least 2 or 3 months between each trip, or even longer if you can. On the bright side, it will hit you much more profoundly if you space it out like that.
