Can we start an inter department dialogue going to help better serve the Empire?

Lucky you! A lot of generals, colonels and such believe that technicians should be in Engineer corps only, that the space they take in a troop transport means one less Storm Trooper. honestly, being in a unit that has specialized engineers attached to us, i can't agree with that logic. instead of having to get comms up and hope you can get there in time, we have at least 2 guys within reach who can handle any problem that pops up for our squads. they're specifically trained on our gear, and any technical aspects of our mission (disabling vehicles/computers/weapons systems/etc). they're not carrying a bunch of gear they might need, so as a trade off they can be fully armored and armed. Oh, I understand what you mean now, but I have a holster. I know, you guys usually don't, because you are expected to have it ready at all times, but technicians in an engineer corp have a belt holster. However, your bundled technician would have a full blaster and thus, no holster. I am betting that while he is working on your jetpack, he gives you his weapon to hold (even a technician is not supposed to leave a weapon unguarded, even if just on the ground in front of him). But in a Engineer corp, we have to be self-sufficient, especially a roamer: I so often work alone, so I have no one to hand my weapon to for safe keeping. again, a practice that to me seems counter-productive. being self-sufficient is good, but having one person trying to do your job alone? that does nobody any good. granted, our unit typically deploys in much smaller numbers than a typical assault force, but we usually have 1 engineer attached per 10 heads. seems like a lot, but when it comes to the point where we NEED those guys - jets malfunction, weapons go down, we run into a locked door or some other technical obstacle we can't blast through - a team will always be quicker than a man. not to mention the fact that if you're working alone, it's much easier for you to become captured. or killed. Yeah, but there are assholes even in the Imperial Army... this is all too true

since my injury on hoth, i've been assigned to the jump training academy. given what i'm hearing, i think i may see if i can get in touch with the officer in charge of the engineers academy - see if we can't discuss fixing a couple of things
