Cardi B 'Moves' to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 With 'Bodak Yellow' - becoming only the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 without any other billed artists, following Lauryn Hill's 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' in 1998

Music theory. Music is like math. A song is an equation. The answer to the equation is the sound produced from playing the music. If you take your knowledge of music theory, you can write a song on a staff and know for a fact what it will sound like, without even playing if you are that skilled.

The way you view it is subjective. But the way you view it has nothing to do with the quality or how it was created. Mainstream music is 99% all objectively made. The "quality" has nothing to do with the artist most of the time in mainstream music, unless you record and produce your own music. The "quality" is mostly due to the quality of microphones used to record, and the studio where they mixed and mastered the track. Music is a fact. You can literally write every single song down and observe it from a staff. You can know literally anything about the song itself using theory.

If you are listening to music (by choice) you already have heard, because you like it, you are objectively listening to it. Pop songs, are made specifically for that reason. They have specific progressions used to make them have that sound. People who think musicians or artists just pull this shit out of their ass from drugs and living on the street have no clue. If you want to make a song that sounds like something else, or even made to make you feel a certain feeling, you can do that. There is no magic involved. They have programs like finale and guitar pro or FL studios or Abelton you can try for yourself.
