continuing high school relationship into tech

Little bit late with this reply, but whatever. First, I'd just like to reiterate what one of the other folks on here has said: Neither of you should be choosing this college just so that you can stay together. Your university career is bigger than your relationship, trust me.

But, to answer your actual question: Kinda-sorta-maybe. Not the best answer, I know, but there are a lot of factors at play here, all of which can have a big impact.

First of all, college is very different from HS. There are experiences that became normal for you while in HS, that you will never have again once you're here. And there are things that you would have considered weird, or that you had never even thought of, that will become the new norm. Your lifestyle will change, and your personality will change with it.

A lot of people don't like to admit it when they first show up, but in my 4 years here, I have yet to see a freshman who didn't undergo a very noticeable personality shift during the span of their first year. On one hand, that gives you a chance to grown and change with your SO. On the other hand, it could also mean growing apart from them.

Another important thing to keep in mind, that might not seem obvious at first, is the climate here. Copper Country (the name of the region this school is in) is famous for many things, one of which being it's nearly year-round overcast. What that means for us living here is that vitamin D deficiency is something that everybody has to deal with here, unless you take some sort of vitamin supplement to correct it. This is important for you, because one of the most common side effects of D deficiency is an onset of depression. And, I can tell you from experience, depression can and will put a difficult strain on any relationship.

Now this is not to say that you can't tough it out and stay together through all of that. If you're confident in your relationship, then I say go for it. More power to you. But it's very important that you keep these things in mind, else they take you by surprise.

Good luck!
