Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread

Am I an idiot for not liking VModa M100?

I've researched for weeks on what headphones to buy and within those weeks, I grew to fall in love with VModa M100 and ordered it last Sunday. Yesterday, it arrived, and the moment I put it on, I was hit with just a wave of disappointment. It was bassy, alright--I got legitimate shivers with an EDM track with this vibrating bass--but I felt like my music sounded really impersonal with it, for some reason. Kind of like, after weeks of pining for this really cool and fun girl, I finally got to date her, but she turned out to be really, really aloof (like really aloof) and when we hang out it's like we're not even in the same room, you know? No? Okay, I'll stop.

I just shipped it for return today, so regardless of the answers for my first question (though I really do want to know your answers to it), it's gone for good. Now I'm looking into a replacement because I need a rebound from that horrible breakup, and I'd really like to get you guys' help.

Budget - $200 down, though if it's really good, I can easily be convinced to go to ~$300, flexible. Source - Samsung Galaxy S5, laptop Requirements for Isolation - I'm going to use this while studying in the library or a communal study room, so it should have enough isolation to block out people talking but also not leak out noise. Preferred Type of Headphone - It doesn't really matter. Preferred tonal balance - I think I'm a basshead, but with how unsuccessful M100 was with me, now I'm not so sure. I believe (not too sure) that I like warm and/or dark tone. I don't like harsh treble, though. Past headphones - My current main is Bose IE2. I know how much shit Bose gets at audiophile communities, but they're pretty close to the tone I'm seeking--I just need more isolation and more 'twang' but not treble, while keeping the 'I can feel it hitting my ears' bass (you can tell I'm not an audiophile). Preferred Music - Queens of the Stone Age (if Qotsa sounds like crap with the headphones, immediate dealbreaker), EDM like Justice, C2C, Flume, Hip Hop, alt rock (often with dark tone), questionably jazzy alt rock (Tokyo Jihen), and metal.
