Why do dashers on this sub tell customers to use other platforms such as GrubHub, UE, etc?

I think it's different in different areas. This is a side gig for me. So, others may know more. Mine normally is in the ballpark but not always. Our base pay is $2.00. That's it.

Sadly, we cannot see a customer's name (First, Last Initial) until we accept the delivery. DD penalizes drivers for dropping orders no matter what the reason. For example, I once tripped and fell when delivering. A customer's stair had a weak.spot. The fall meant I dropped both of their drinks and the restaurant was closed. DD expected me to take the hit so the customer wouldn't be charged for not receiving their entire order. That's just one example.

So, I am very very VERY careful about what I accept. They try to bully us into accepting but won't penalize us for not accepting. That means drivers have no idea a regular and good tipper is the customer unless they are willing to risk accepting. That's not fair to you or the driver.

We don't drop orders for no reason and it's almost always something that is done before the pickup.

To show you the difference, I had to drop an order yesterday. It was a double pickup and one customer's food was done and ready but they told me the other would be about 20 minutes. So, what am I to do? Wait and let one customer's food to get cold and soggy or drop the second order knowing another driver will be assigned and probably get there when it's fresh. Thank God I was doing UE and did not get penalized & had a happy customer. DD would expect me to wait.

Please don't read this as me being ungrateful. Many folks are decent. Some are even generous like you. It really is DD just screwing all of us (including the restaurants) and laughing all the way to the bank.
