Dear BJP, please learn to take the high road and stop with petty politics and doublespeak.

Before watching the documentary was the average Indian male actually 'rapist minded' ?

No. But there is a problem of paternalistic and patriarchal attitudes in India. The problem is also not exclusive to India but I dont see how that matters.

After watching the documentary did it all go away and everyone got englightened ? In other words, was the documentary that powerful and stimulating that the 'rapist mentality' went away ?

No. It is obviously downright foolish to think that a single documentary can eliminate a social issue like this.

Let me take your question even further. Lets hypothetically say that the documentary does ABSOLUTELY nothing to solve the problem. It contributes Zilch. Do you think thats justification for a ban?

How is putting forth the pov of a rapist on a death row (he is there because is mentally sick in the first place for raping) and shoving that as the mentality of the average Indian men going to solve the problem ? If that is not crude stereotyping, what else is.

All your questions assume that the objective of the documentary is to "solve the problem". If documentaries could solve social problems, we would have been living in a perfect society by now.

The purpose of any documentary is simply to highlight an issue and ask questions. This particular documentary dissects a horrific crime which took place in India and shows both the pathetic mentality of the the perpetrator (and his lawyers) AND it also shows how the people of India stood up and came on the streets to stand by the victim and demand change. Thats hardly stereotyping India in a negative light. In fact, I thought the images of thousands of people (and as many men as women) on the streets were inspiring and hopeful.

How is showcasing the same in America and London going to solve the issue in ahmedabad and lucknow ?

Obviously documentaries dont solve problems. Thats a flawed premise which reflects in all your questions.

See it doesnt take a genius to figure out the ulterior motive behind the whole documentary.

Apparently it does. I congratulate you.
