Dear Mini, fuck you. Sincerely, every mechanic

Its all intentional to make the vehicle as hard and as expensive as possible to maintenance and repair so as to make it much less likely to get maintenanced and repaired. Basically they try to turn the vehicles in to expensive i-phone type disposable devices. Need to repar/maintain? cant do it cause its all locked down, or otherwise no part available form anyone anywhere.

Also the battery thing reminds me of something from years ago;

Pops and i were on a roadtrip... there was a tourist family stuck by the side of the road as their rental vehicles battery was dead. Was in the middle of nowhere with 0 cell signals etc. 0 other traffic all that jive.

We had spare battery-compressor pack and some jumper cables in the back. So we stopped to try and help.

Well, one would think that jumpstarting a car would be easy right...

Not this one, the battery had both terminals covered by "security" locks which took no less than the removal of a dozen nuts, and bolts to get open just enough to get terminal contact to start the vehicle.

To make thing smore fun the only tools in either of our cars were the normal tire change stuff and a leatherman in ours... those nuts and such were all torqued to such a degree it was damn near impossible to get them loose.

To get the vehicle ready to jumpstarted it took something like 45 minutes of work to get the terminals to do so.
