BLACK GOLD!

I used to work in natural gas fueling, like for buses, garbage trucks, and 2014 F-150s. One of our stations was to fuel the shuttle buses at the San Francisco Airport car rental area. People trying to return their cars would often pull in and expect gasoline. Usually, they were just very confused for a minute or two, then they'd get in their car and find a real gas station.

One guy, though... I was at one of the pumps draining the oil separators when this rental Mustang pulls up. He gets out and grabs the fuel handle (which looks like this because it was for buses). Tries to insert it, but it obviously doesn't work.

He calls me over and asks if I could help him fuel his car. I told him no because we don't sell gasoline. We sell natural gas.

He didn't get it. "Right. Natural gas. Now how do I put it in my car? I have to return it." He got more frustrated when I told him that natural gas was methane, not gasoline, and his car didn;t accept methane as a fuel.

He threw the nozzle on the ground and asked, "Well, why doesn't it say that somewhere?!"

It did. Like, on every sign at the station. I'm pretty sure this dude thought that "natural gas" meant "free range gasoline" or "non-GMO".
