The Death of Marzanna

Then, Manchurian winter, A lone soldier returned After long-wrought survival With gratitude, unearned." I think this means that even though it takes war to have peace the fact that the soldier returned with gratitude unearned means that war is only the simple solution that is actually the wrong answer to Marzanna's test of creating conflict to test how loyal the people who worship her are. "On all fours" makes Marzanna seem like a dangerous animal that (because in peace many conflicts can arise that lead to war or just long term chaos). Her absence from history I think means that even though Marzanna is not as worshiped as war, Marzanna is still revered and grandiose even to herself. Then the new generation (the young ones) go to worship peace to be tested again. Is this accurate?
