Like cows don’t develop larger and more capable utters until they have a child and they can’t have a child until they have sex (usually that is, cloning muddles everything lol).

Is it you’re saying that it’s not epigenetics if it’s instantaneous? Of course in real life we don’t have such rapid gene expression, but with a fictional alien creature we can make an exception right?
