Does personality really have an effect on a pop stars chart success?

Cardi became famous for her personality not because her music. If it was her music she wouldn’t be flopping now. Ppl keep up with her social media, her relationship but not her music. I think it does have an effect on women more then men. I think fans now want to be able to relate to their fav artist.

I think keeping up a perfect image is more harm then good. The more squeaky clean the pop singer the harder they’re gonna fall. I think now these days a lot fans want artists to be relatable in a way? Not too relatable but enough to understand the artist.

I think pop stars that keep an image of being unproblematic or playing the victim will have a huge backlash if they are caught doing/saying something that is opposite of who they’re suppose to be.

I mean look what happened to Taylor swift with the reputation era. Keeping up with her image of being the victim completely backfired. I think now times are changing we’re living in the social media age now. So ppl aren’t falling for the tricks the media use to feed us.

From the jump cardi and Nicki showed us their real personalities so them being problematic isn’t shocking at all. Misogyny does play a factor as well. The media is much harsher to women then men.
