Does it sounds like I'm gonna get fired or make it past my first year in public?

Why are so many posts in this sub from people with bad experiences/people wondering if they suck?? Minus points for asking something like this on Reddit, where nobody can completely accurately answer a question like this without actually observing your job environment.

This doesn't mean I don't still have some thoughts on your situation, however wrong or right they may be. Since I see so many of these, I am going to OBJECTIVELY analyze everything you are saying and tell you what I think, based off my experience working in a large office:

To start, it is, of course, quite possible that your company (or more specifically, your office), just flat out sucks. Since you call your superiors 'my in-charge' it leads me to believe you work at a Big 4, in which case it would be more of an office based issue since in general since B4 are relatively on point with their operations, especially when it comes to new hires.
While it does seem that they are a being a little difficult, I don't think anything they have done is out of the ordinary. The multiple seniors telling you that you would only be on real estate jobs are talking out of their asses. Seniors have nothing to do with scheduling. It may be true that a good amount of your 40-kid starting class are going to be working real estate, but how the hell would they know that that’s what you-specifically would be doing? Exactly which industry were you designated to? Is your job title ‘Real Estate Auditor?’ If not, (and I’m pretty sure it isn’t), then there is no surprise here. I work for a B4, and I have a friend who audits real estate clients. I just asked her, and the division is called ‘Asset Management’ and the industry is ‘building, construction and real estate.’ Since you were put on a construction job, maybe you have a similar job title as my friend (NY office and funny enough she said that they are really understaffed at her office for auditors on real estate clients). She also said it could be your firms policy on not being allowed to work real estate clients if you aren’t in real estate, but she has never heard of a policy like that before. Honestly, it sounds like you just don’t know how your firm organizes its engagements and employees with regards to the different industries.

On top of this, scheduling is not an easy task. First off, you need to give them more than just 1 week to make changes to your schedule. It is the middle of audit busy season, and this has to be the worst time to be making scheduling changes. It's going to take some time; they are probably waiting to see which engagements are behind on their deadlines to assign you, and you might not even be put on a new audit until the end of season. The last thing an engagement team wants to deal with in the middle of Febuary is bringing you up to speed... especially in real esate, considering the uniqueness of individual real estate companies, on top of the fact that you just started a few months ago.

Second, your office is huge, and 40 kids is A LOT to start with. Maybe all the real estate teams are all full. And your lack of scheduled hours in May mean nothing. I audit Hedge Funds and I am on 9 engagement teams, none of which have hours scheduled for May, which is after busy season ends.

Ok now here are the things that I cannot explain, and you might not like all this. I do not know what is going on with that in-charge. From your description, I can’t tell if he’s actually a dick, or if you just suck at this job. First off, you better get used to being called out, being criticized, and dealing with assholes, because there are plenty of them and if they are your bosses then you better take it. Now obviously, there is a line that could be crossed, but most in-charges’ didn’t make it to their position by crossing that line. Maybe he was joking around. You got good feedback on your work, so I don’t think he thought negatively about your work and the hours as much as you make it seem. As a staff 1, your hours pretty unlikely to fuck up the budget. Also, 8 hours on one workpaper happens to me all the time. Some things just take more time than others (obviously, depending on what it is). And you said you really got it done in almost half that time. He must have been joking around, at least a little bit. Maybe he is kind of an idiot and was trying to “flirt” with you. Maybe he is just that kind of person who gets off on bossing people around, or even more specifically bossing girls around. Who knows? All I know is that I hope you didn’t respond like a Serious-George to this. I can picture your in-charge poking fun at you about hours lightheartedly, and you ‘in the nicest way possible’ a.k.a. Passive Aggressively saying it was almost half that time. Just the fact that you are posting something like this on reddit suggests to me that you might be having some problems forming relationships at this place. Accounting requires excellent people skills. Maybe you just don’t have them yet. My theory is reinforced with the lying senior. That could be one of two things: he only needed his more experienced Staff 2 for the audit, or you sucked and were hurting the team more than you helped it.
“Two weeks later an associate 2 tells me she is working on client abc for three weeks” – you could use a brush up on your writing skills, because I’m not sure what you are trying to say. It just seems like you are automatically assuming you were blatantly lied to. Are you positive that’s what he said? Since you ‘think’ this happened, it sounds like you aren’t all that sure. If this was before you were called out for the hours and your schedule changed around that same time, then how were you still on that other real estate client with the dick senior? Your story is not adding up. I’m trying to consider both sides of everything you described, but overall it seems to me like the only real issue is that you don’t like your job. That, or you just aren’t good at it. Every auditor in the country is dealing with heaping piles of bullshit right now, and every accountant in the world deals with bullshit on a regular basis. The only way to be successful in this field is to not let these things break you down and get in the way of performing at a high level. We have to be ready to learn new things every day, and working well with others is a must. It also doesn’t seem like you are getting along well with your co-workers. You are the new person here, and you still have everything to prove. All these people you are complaining about have already proved themselves worthy and they must have all of these qualities since they all still have jobs. Not everyone is going to be your best friend and no one is going to baby you. When people have trouble making 40 hours a week in BUSY SEASON where you should have 55+ easily, it usually means that people flat out don’t want to give you work and have to deal with you. Although I’m not sure the extent of your character, I can tell you that you’re going to have to change your attitude towards this job or you are going to lose it.

This doesn't mean I don't still have some thoughts on your situation, however wrong or right they may be.

Are you a guy or girl? If you and this senior are both guys, maybe he just doesn't like you and would rather have a girl to boss around. Obviously this is just a theory, but who knows; it could literally be anything. And again, maybe he just doesn't like you.
