Don't know if its a personality type thing, but i have amazing memory, though nobody knows

I personally don't understand this infatuation with "amazing memory" or "hey I'm awesome and I need to brag" posts. Memory which is only useful in remembering faces, is not much beneficial. Instead, a photographic memory where you can learn and retain information after looking at it 1-3 times is far more beneficial, than remembering mere names and connecting them to faces. I can also do this "remember names, connect with faces" thing, but is it something beneficial? Not in my opinion. I would have liked to retain 100% of the information that I read, rather than remember names.
Another drawback of my memory is the fact, I need to be interested in that information. My memory never was useful in high school (for example) and I was not interested in that information. And getting interested in something is quite tough, as at times I do realize that certain information is important, and worth remembering, yet my brain doesn't listen to me because I'm not interested in that information.
Its a constant struggle. Even with good memory, I cannot apply it to its fullest, and take advantage of its potential.
And bragging about these things is quite foolish...there are other people also who may have better memory than you, better yet, photographic memory like Tesla had.
