I'm so glad I've always felt the need to be practical. While I do splurge on a nice computer and a guitar, that's so infrequent that it doesn't dent my savings.
I despise items that end up in storage and just take up space. If it doesn't make my life easier and I won't be using it all the time then I don't need it. Neat kitchen item that does something? How easy is it to clean? How often will I use it?
New car? Continuous expense, not to mention the immediate drop in value once it exits the dealership. Expensive car? Expensive maintenance too.
Now that I think of it, my exclusion list is so small because I literally can't think of all the bullshit these people must be buying to make $300k disappear.
