Meet Lucy. A 13-year old who is blind and neurodiverse — as she plays a highly-complex Chopin piece.

It's terrible that the life span of someone autistic is significantly lower than the general population (like 20+ years), and part of that is due to the much higher rate of self-harm. There are usually a lot of supports for kids, but then we transition into the NT world and expected to live like NTs. But living in a NT world is not easy and so many of us live in poverty without health insurance.

I'm part of an autism advocacy group and about to develop a training for businesses to get them to see the value in hiring autistic workers for just this reason. So much brilliance is squandered because we aren't good with interviews, and that's just the beginning.
