This is the statement from Facebook from after the Joe Rogan interview:

Why would anyone think the last-minute dump of stolen emails was a Russian op? Maybe they were alive in October 2016 when the Trump campaign tried to coordinate the release of the content Russia stole from Hillary. The more important issue is that it's very difficult to be confident a dump is 100% authentic. Some could slip in 1 fake email in a zip folder of 1,000 real emails. When Rudy was trying to get news outlets to report about the stolen laptop, he wasn't giving them full access or ways to authenticate it was 100% legit. Rudy wanted everyone to trust his leaks were legit.

It was all very sketchy, and it's good that so many institutions did not cave to lowering their editorial standards. Hopefully they won't be intimidated if it ever happens again by the neverending whining from those who still can't accept Trump lost the election because he was a bad president.
