It's obvious what happened here. People were always searching for left around corpses because it was easier than growing food to just come upon some.

When they couldn't find any fast enough, they got tired, lazy, and impatient then started killing their own but setting it up like they "found" it. Eventually, everyone caught onto this trick until everyone was doing it and it finally became acceptable to just do publicly without shame and in your backyard for mass profit.

I'm telling the kids this is the story of how we all became carni's and that the non-lazy always kept working hard growing food and the ones with their morals still intact bought from the plant growers.

The carni kids are now growing up to realize they have been tricked into having this low moral and lazy way of life brainwashed onto them so they wouldn't judge their parents ways and their would be more mouths around to agree "it's acceptable /normal behavior" but alas, they are onto them and the non-lazies with their good morals are going back to our plants because EWWW and WTF man!
