Had my first dinner out with the family while vegan. Almost cried.

The world sees veganism in a stereotypical way, because that is what the media portrays. Veganism in the media is usually portrayed as narcissistic and as extremists who look for attention. Which to those who portray those traits shouldn’t be considered vegan, humans are animals too. Veganism the one of the most impactful ways to reduce harm, veganism is empathy, those who do not express empathy and love even verbally should not be held with the standard label of vegan.

What I would reconsider to prevent this situation is try not to use the word “Vegan” around people, people often automatically assume terrible things that veganism doesn’t stand for and are very sensitive over that word. Try maybe describe veganism like I have allergies problems to meat and dairy and eggs, etc. they will have more compassion to that answer then the V word. That’s what I try to do avoid any negative situations.

Maybe report the situation to higher ups of Cracker Barrel and maybe say that you have food allergies and you were facing discrimination because of it. But I would advise against it because it could show more evidence for them that veganism is just run by a bunch of Karen’s.

After facing that, you are the only one who knows who you are and what you stand for as a person, as hard as it may seem, see through the words of your family members and employees as projections of their own anger within themselves of themselves. We don’t see the world as it is, we see the world as YOU ARE.

Peace and happiness my friend will soon come your way.
