Is Eka Swede T9 a good choice for EDC?

Ive never heard anything about this brand. They dont mention the steel on this knife. They call it a swede and they call it a Tanto and they call it a Scandi grind. First of all, the tanto design shown is an American thing, bastardized from a traditional japanese design. Secondly, an American Tanto usually will have a hollow grind on the long edge and a flat grind on the front edge. The "Scandinavian" grind is not a true scandi in that it has a micro bevel. Therefore it is a more of a half flat grind or a double bevel. This is more appropriate for some kitchen knives as it most likely wont have an acute enough angle to be good for heavier tasks. The thumb studs look really big too. Personally, Im not impressed. The website isnt really well made, the knife looks cheaply made, and you don't know what steel it is. I wouldnt say ir was worth it for $50+. My suggestions for alternatives: For a tanto style blade on a folder, go for a Kershaw Blur in Tanto. The Blur (~$65) is a very good knife and comes in I believe 154CM which is a very capable stainless which will hold an edge well. You can get a variety of blade shapes and handle colors as well. I believe the blade length is around 4 inches. For a Scandi ground folder, check out the EnZo Birk 75 (~$95), though that is probably a little different than what tou are looking for. I believe Benchmade Griptilians and Mini Griptilians have a variety of blade styles as well though Im not a hundred percent on that. Other than that, see if you like the Kershaw Skyline line, as it is an excellent EDC option. For a tactical look, check out Zero Tolerance. They are built solid as folders come and have good steel. They are right at your price point and above though. Good luck finding what you like.
