I Ended up in Cedar Rapids

So, like OP, a random force brought me to Cedar Rapids in 2000. I thought I'd be here about 5 years or so...and I'm still here.

For a period of about seven years, I had a job wherein I did a LOT of domestic and even some international travel, and I do mean an lot- 300,000 air miles in a period of 18 months, all domestic- and what I realized is that everywhere I went split about 50/50 "Boy, I sure am glad I'm living in Cedar Rapids instead of here!" to "When can I escape Cedar Rapids to live here?"

It's not a bad town...but 20+ years is enough. While pleasant enough, it's never truly felt like home. Neither my wife nor I are CR natives; her family is near Ames and mine is back in MA, so there's nothing truly anchoring us here.

It's getting time to move on.
