Eshwarappa's Formula to End Crimes: Ban Media
BENGALURU: K S Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, on Wednesday broached a blanket ban on the media, both electronic and print.
Making a preliminary submission on an adjournment motion in the Council, the BJP leader said law and order in the state had collapsed and people were disgusted by the crime reports.
Coming down heavily on the Congress government, Eshwarappa said, Even people lodged in prisons are murdered in riots.... And during your regime, policemen chasing anti-social elements were murdered.
Referring to the Madikeri incident in which VHP leader Kuttappa was bludgeoned to death, allegedly by a group hired from Kerala, he said, While the police were in the midst of arresting those behind the murder, the chief minister claimed it was an accident.
Recalling he was jailed during the Emergency to fight for the restoration of the fundamental rights and freedom of the press, he said, While seeking a ban, I wanted to expose the inefficiency of the government in preventing the rising crime rate in the state and not otherwise.
