ESPN First Take - All-Time Top 5 Best NBA Players

Michael Jordan (history, led some of the greatest teams in modern NBA history, best at his position, best guard in NBA history on perimeter defense)

Bill Russell (revolutionzed the center position, defense leading to offense, utilizing the block and starting the fast break, scouted his teammates and played to their strengths, the ultimate winner and truly one of the most remarkable players in NBA history. You had to count blocks, his rebounds were amazing, he played on the greatest sports team ever in terms of winning. He was the catalyst, he understood that he was fortunate enough to play with great teammates, he utilized their skills as much as he could.)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (longevity, size, IQ, survived many different eras of basketball, had an unstoppable move, the skyhook, although I see him as a beta-dog for most of his NBA career, he never managed to ever be the man, except for 6 games of his first finals with Magic. I would have put him at 2, if he was more of an alpha like Bill Russell and Michael, but that is not what Kareem was about.)

Wilt Chamberlain (pure dominance, stats, led the league in assists back in 1968, he was one of a kind, he could dominate in many facets of the game, using his incredbile athleticism to complete amazing feats, he dominated his matchup against any center he was against, only problem was he had a tough time doing everything in a single game. His injury in game 7 back in 1969 hurt his legacy, I would be willing to put him higher if they had won in 1969.)

LeBron James (Greatest forward to ever pick up a basketball, great basketball mind, vision, passing, making his teammates better, will, dominance, he can do everything, knows how to play to his strengths, you always saw him on the left side of the floor this finals, because he understood that it was a hot spot of his, he can play on the block, play on every position and utilize all of his skills. When his career is said and done, just knowing the greatness of LeBron, he will probably be at no. 3, maybe even 2, maybe even 1. I do not know what it takes for him to get there, but watching him this finals, if he was able to win I would have put him at no 3.)
