Europe and America should tell Ukraine to surrender

Why is it all or nothing? Why did people forget what this whole thing is about? This is not about Donetsk or Lugansk. The West knows that the real battle is an economic and political battle in Kiev - a battle for reform. That's what this is all about, but many have forgotten. The armed conflict in the east is a distraction created by Russia. It threatens to suck in Ukraine and destroy it before it can achieve its true goals of independence and liberalization. Some kind of peace plan is necessary where Ukraine compromises on its territorial integrity in the short run - while maintaining its political opposition to the territorial changes, with Western support - and focuses on reform and growth. There is no military solution, and like Ms. Merkel said, we can draw on the lesson of the Cold War that the West can outlast Russia. A successful Ukraine and a failing Russia will, in time - months, years, decades perhaps - lead to a resolution of the crisis. Your definition of the West "helping Ukraine" is a complete absurdity. No, the West is not going to war against Russia. The fact that you would even suggest that is insulting to all of our intelligence. The fact that you think that would resolve the crisis is just dumb, I'm sorry. Your suggestion that "there is no excuse" for not starting a war between nuclear weapons states is fucking infuriating. This is not 1938 or 1939. It's 2015 and the world is much, much different. I believe the Munich analogy is overused by people who don't have any other historical analogies to draw upon. Well, there are 8 decades of history between then and now. World War III threatens all of us, it threatens our very existence on this planet. That's not what this is about! Ukrainians, take a long hard look at yourselves. It is not about Russia and it's not about Crimea. It is about what kind of country you are going to become in the long run. There is no military solution to this crisis, and stop thinking that the West owes you anything. Yet, we will help you to create a better future for your people. That's what this is about, don't forget.
