The Netherlands does not have an over crowding problem, it does not have a particularly major issue with refugees and is not the chosen destination for the majority of those crossing Europe from Syria or North Africa. Italy, The Baltic States, France and even though it's an island The UK all have much more severe immediate pressures regarding refugees. This won't be a hugely popular view on this sub I doubt. I'm not some hippy liberal but I've read up on my history and can take a critical point of view from my ivory tower.

You need to wake up. Your fear mongering and close mindedness is what's going to create tension that can flare up. YOU will be the cause of any "problems" with refugees because you seem to think they want to come to your country because the weather is lovely and 'wont it be nice to get away from all the dust for a bit, maybe whilst we're there we can rob a few grocery stores and bang some of those hot Dutch women.'

If you think there's a problem with refugees you need to maybe look at it from another perspective. Integration is a major issue and has been for many years across Europe as enclaves of different nationalities spring up within foreign countries due to mass immigration and open borders under EU treaties. These aren't refugees but their lack of adoption of the native culture causes some widespread issues amongst the local citizens who resent them for all kinds of reasons. Mostly unfounded. Plenty of them are pains in the arse yes, lots of them commit crime and aren't really nice people but hey there's millions of Brits, Dutch, German or Spanish people who are complete dicks too. Has any of these people actually ever done anything to you or even a single person you know? You're just buying into the media hype and social bullshit being fed that perpetuates the fear and segregation. Could they integrate better? Yes, but I'm guessing you're not exactly inviting any of them to your next poker night?

However, you're confusing your fear of being invaded and over run by mass immigration with the reality of this situation.

These aren't marauding invaders. They're not Muslim crusaders. They are literally walking away from the imminent threat of death, chemical weapon attack, rape, being burnt alive in cages. If anyone needed prepping advice it's these people! Packing a single tiny rucksack. Sticking your toddler on your back and setting off on a potentially 2000 mile walk or ocean crossing on an inflatable dinghy more suited to sunbathing in a pool. Can you imagine how bad things must be to take your 3 year old child out of its bed and tell her we're leaving to walk from Syria to Rotterdam because the bombs are starting to fall????????

Football club Porto just made a request for every Champions League ticket sold for the first round to have 1€ donated to help fund the crisis relief. Portugal, a nation barely affected are doing what they can to help. Sweden, Iceland, Denmark. Literally as far away as you can imagine for these people are welcoming them and helping far more than the major European nations yet you're worried a scared family is going to turn up near you and be unsightly, or so desperate that they commit crime to stay alive... they're desperate human beings with kids and absolutely no options or prospects. Huddling in a doorway in the rain of Amsterdam with no job, shelter, food or knowledge of the language is a more hopeful situation for them than the one they're leaving.....

If you're really scared shits going to hit the fan then by all means prep. Buy food, water. Get a BOB, make an evac plan, learn some skills that you can use in a shtf situation. Learn Krav Maga to defend yourself. Do whatever makes you feel safe, but I tell you what the biggest cause of European shit hitting the fan will be. Scared people looking at these families like you are, as sub human trouble makers. The best prep? Help them to help themselves. The better opportunities they have the less trouble there'll be on the streets or incentive there'll be for mob justice.

One final thing to put it into perspective. Jordan is tiny and has a population of 6m. They have already rehomed 1.5million refugees. I'm sure Holland can help it's share. Or fuck it, just close your borders and let them starve then they can't cause you any trouble.
