There are racists that know they were born into a racist culture and are working to be inclusive and change themselves, racists that are aware of their racism on some level but choose to pretend it isn't real, racists that are completely unaware that their thoughts are sometimes racist, racists that think they cannot be racist by definition, and an extremely small minority of people that have actually managed to grow out of racists thought biases entirely. I'm on my own journey of personal confrontation. You can find racists anywhere you are. The sooner we recognize this collectively, the sooner we actually will create a culture where growth and healing can happen, instead of constant division, shame, and fear. This takes real leadership and vulnerability, which are incredibly lacking right now.
