Fear Not, The Live-Action Mulan Will Have an All-Chinese Cast and No White Lead!

It's a relief that an anonymous source was totally wrong and that the people who got angry over that unsubstantiated rumor may have learned a lesson not to do that again... but probably not.

Yeah, probably not. The person who leaked the information wrote something today about Disney's response and acted like his leak and the campaign was the reason Disney changed it, even though it could have already been set in stone a long time ago. So websites will continue mentioning this even though it's probably not the truth, and everyone will believe that was the direction Disney was headed, even though Disney publicly stated they were rewriting the script when they announced that it was official. As I posted yesterday;

Writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Jurassic World) were brought on to rewrite a spec script from 2015 (they’re also working on the Avatar sequel).

According to the Hollywood Reporter **“The Disney team saw the spec, by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, as a jumping-off point for a more nuanced and elaborate adaptation, combining the legendary Chinese ballad and the 1998 animated film.”

So yeah... it would be nice if people learned a lesson about rumors, but websites are more likely to continue reporting whatever they hear as if it's the truth, and there are a lot of people out there that believe anything they read.
