He had atty before that he didn't like. The guy just didn't put any effort into his case.
He likes the one he has right now pretty well, but... I am more familiar with Texas divorce laws (which are very just), than NM divorce laws.
I've been digging up all the paperwork I can find from when he got the first divorce. As soon as she got to the US, and realized that as a military retiree, that he didn't really make much money, she stole his debit card, and lived with a man up in the NE, until she realized that he made even less than my dad. Then she returned, having supported to two of them eating out and living in hotels... and claiming that the other guy held her as a sex slave. And the relationship just went downhill from there.
Sadly, I think this is pretty par for the course, when you have 70 year olds marrying 30 year olds from other countries. He did a stupid thing, and then he did the same stupid thing again.
Now, seeing everything she thought she'd get for free, she is becoming extremely hostile. The last time she came to the house, she kept leaving the front door open, as she took her stuff out to her car, and he kept shutting the door behind her, telling her it was too cold to leave the door open. The last time he shut the door, she ran across the front of the house, breaking every window on the front of it. When the police got there, she claimed he locked her out (he didn't), and that she had to break the windows to get into the house. She never crawled through a window. After she broke them all, she walked right in the front door that she refused to shut. Now they have an order in place that she can't go there without the sheriff being present.
He and I just started talking again, this past December (after not talking to him for about 6 years). She made a point to villanize me, saying I was only there for his money, and that I was going to kill him. Now that she knows he is talking to me again, she's telling him that I am not his real daughter, that I don't even look like him (well.. my mother Japanese, he is German and Swede).
I wished to gosh that I could get a ghostwriter for him, and his story could be told. He had a glorious career, and now a lively after story.
