Was Fredrick the Great of Prussia homosexual?

He was bissexual. In fact, bisexuality and homosexuality among men was not socially condemned in the Hellenic culture. All the standard of beauty and honor were attributed to the male body and that can be seen in the famous Hellenic (and Hellenic inspired) sculptures. The female body was not even closely regarded as the male body for the Hellenic culture.

The female beauty was acknowledged by other cultures before and after the Hellenic, off course. In the West the true glorification of the female body started with the Italian, mostly during the Renaissance and thankfully the female beauty is current on both Western art and popular culture.

The fact that the Hellenic underestimated the female beauty is not widely spoken on historical texts because there is a general misconception, almost a tabu, that the Western culture originated from Greek language (Latin) and values. But this is not true. Although many cultural and linguistic elements were absorbed from the Greek, the Western culture has it's true roots in the fusion of the barbaric Germanic peoples and the Roman culture (which was not just an extension of the Hellenic culture as some fail to realize).
