Evoca TV is a disgrace. You can't start a company (especially one where your stated goal is to "go up against the big media companies") and expect to immediately profit. You need to have sufficient capital built up to weather the storm.

The first year or two will have high start-up costs, learning through mistakes, retooling your business model, hiring consultants, etc. You need resources that can get you through the unexpected, and Evoca TV didn't even have enough to get them through the expected.

They didn't properly prepare to survive through even a few months without profits, and now they're essentially threatening suicide unless their PAYING CUSTOMERS don't go out of their way to help bail them out. To me this indicates they viewed the venture as a get rich quick scheme rather than a project they would have to work hard to actualize.

DNVR is a great counter-example to this failing. The day their bar was set to open was the exact day the world shut down. They weren't able to see profits from that investment for like 6 months. Simultaneously, all sports shut down right as many seasons were peaking, and a lot of sponsors dropped them. They had to pull content out of their ass for months. Thankfully Brandon Spano is a competent businessman and had the capital to weather this extremely unexpected and impactful storm.

tl;dr - I'll donate $1000 to Evoca TV if they suck my balls.
