The Gospel of John: The Reminiscences of the Beloved Disciple Ch. I-V

When did this event take place? It is beyond debate among historians that Paul’s conversion and call near Damascus occurred, at the latest, in late 34 or early 35.11 This was only one and a half years after Jesus’s crucifixion in 33, and only two or three months after the first Christ followers, due to persecution, had been scattered from the community led by the apostles in Jerusalem (cf. Gal 1:13 with Acts 8:1–4; 9:1–22). This is a crucial historical datum, which reveals that Paul received the body of teaching he passed on to the Corinthians, and was on the scene and active as an apostle within the early Christian movement, within one and a half to two years of its inception.
