"Guess What's Part of Life, Dipshit"

Normally when I've heard the term rent-seeking it means to lobby the government for special privileges, but apparently there is another use of the word related to "land rent". When it comes to landlords, they make money in two ways. One is due to improvements they make to the land or services they provide to tenants, which we can probably both agree represent the creation of wealth not just the extraction of it from others, while the other way is from "land rent", the value of the unimproved land, which does not involve the creation of new wealth, but flows to the property owners simply because they own property.

So I can moderate my position somewhat by saying that land rent is an unearned extraction of wealth, and it probably should be taxed at a high rate
