Help with local impressions of neighborhoods?

I absolutely love these threads. They give me such a great opportunity to learn where all the undesirables are! It’s so difficult when somebody moves here to get them to simultaneously dodge the rednecks as well as the 2nd Ward. Can you imagine how hard that would be without the service his thread is providing!

I especially love the distinction “cheap beer swilling rednecks“ as opposed to just rednecks. But you know cheap beer can be cool, like there’s nothing better than having a PBR at a dive bar, as long as you leave by 10 and it’s in a “up-and-coming“ neighborhood. Don’t want to get too authentic!

It’s amazing to think that only a few years ago there weren’t any places to get a latte, Midtown had some really scary areas. But now it’s really expensive, and therefore better. I mean I get the feeling every time someone new moves in and I look out the window, you know, I just want to see the way they are! You know what I mean. I want to make sure they’re the type of people that my daughter can play lacrosse with.

I’m so grateful that somebody has told me that between Petal and the historic district, it’s “rough“. I know what you mean, I’ll make sure to avoid that area completely because I certainly don’t want to get lost over there! Unless of course there’s a dive bar that sells PBR or a cool restaurant. We have so many cool restaurants! I love Crescent City it’s so authentic.

You know what we need? A Whole Foods. Like can you imagine, right there in Midtown. It would make the area so much better! You know because, it’s just such a better environment, it makes me feel so safe.
