Hey Americans, Europe is not the social democratic paradise you think it is. Sorry to ruin your utopian beliefs

I lived in the US for well over a decade before returning to Europe a year ago. I certainly do not want to miss the experience and friends I made while in the US, and was actually quite comfortable all things considered. However, "corporate culture" and long term prospects of falling victim to the US's health care industry convinced me to move back.

Yes, Europe is "America Light" in many ways and the general population can still be considered wage-slaves, but not having to worry about health care costs, your kids' educational needs (aka tuition-free college), and starting with six weeks of paid vacation and essentially unlimited sick time if needed is mentally quite relieving.
