High school teachers of Reddit, what successful students of yours ended up much worse than you expected and vice versa?

I was told by multiple teachers that I wouldnt amount to anything in life. At the time they were right. Got kicked out of elementary school, two high schools, drug addiction, no money, the works. I was messed up.

I decide to get clean and at a AA meeting three years ago I run into my 7th grade teacher. The only teacher who never gave up on me. She told me I could be whatever I wanted to be in life and to never give up. I never forgot her saying that some 20 years ago, never forgot.

I’m a fireman now making a ton of money and loving life. Clean and sober for over four years and no more hate.

She keeps me going. I can’t let her down.
